I would like to suggest purchasing MAC lipsticks as an alternative to exercise.
Not really. If you're the type who likes to make your own nut butter please don't get mad at me. Do, however, consider getting a non-cashew-related hobby. I merely want to point out the similarities between a visit to MAC's lipstick counter and exercise, in terms of their shared ability to perk up a common or garden sh*tty day. Neither will fix something really bad, but a standard not-so-peachy day at work or PMS-induced foul mood can be eradicated by a touch of jogging or a visit to the MAC shop. Or both. It's up to you. You could jog to the MAC shop. Now there's a thought.
So if you've had a bad day recently and want a lipstick pick-me-up (a lipstick-me-up?) which will not only give you the fleeting thrill of consumer capitalism, but will also last you through Autumn, here are my top shade recommendations.
I fluctuate between nudes and berry tones in Autumn, and when I'm in the mood for a nude that goes with everything, Patisserie is the one. It's a very neutral pinky nude. It's not yellowish, it's not blueish, it's just a middle of the road pinky beige. Don't be afraid of the (completely uncalled for) flecks of gold in the bullet, they don't show up on the lips. Also - best ever name for a lipstick? Probs.
Hot Tahiti (glaze)
Glaze finishes are the most comfortable to wear of all MAC's lipsticks, which makes it even more of a shame that there are so few shades in this finish. Despite it's name, Hot Tahiti is a muted berry colour with a super-moisturising lip-hugging finish and a glossy shine that gives way to a pretty wintery stain over time. My top pick for Autumn '16 right here.
Shy Girl (cremesheen)
Favourite of beauty bloggers and my all time holy grail nude shade. The cremesheen finish of this one means it's a bit heavier on the pigment and lighter on the gloss, but still lightweight and wearable (high maintenance lips are not my thing). It's got a warm peachy tone to it which is flattering for most paler skin tones, and looks lovely paired with a chunky knit and flicky liner.
Another seriously under-appreciated shade. Charismatic is a deep terracotta orange very reminiscent of Autumn leaves, but because of its sheer glossy finish it's incredibly easy to wear. Don't be put off by it's shimmery appearance in the bullet. On the lips it's every bit a modern winter shade, and is a great addition to my favourite all black everything Autumn ensembles.
